It’s one of the most rewarding things you can do to offer food to the hungry - or help to those in need. Many of us at Brinkster take pride in working for a company that ‘gets it’ when it comes to social responsibility. I’ve heard it said “To whom much is given, much is expected” and we’re happy to offer whatever we can.
This morning, the society of St. Vincent de Paul recognized volunteers of their corporate breakfast club. A handful of our team members were honored to attend. We’re always excited to go and serve breakfast at SVdP as a part of our HOPE project, and it was awesome to see the larger network of Phoenix companies involved as well. There were members of 100 corporations including Qwest, Cricket Wireless, Vanguard, and most notably (for me) the Arizona Diamondbacks.
The executive director of the SVdP Phoenix offered some touching stories of people whose lives were touched by the efforts of staff and volunteers. Hearing some of those stories just inspires you to go above and beyond – and do more to benefit the world around you. Next, the president of the Arizona Diamondbacks spoke a quick and encouraging speech about the benefits of giving back – both as a business, and as an individual. If you weren’t a D-Backs fan before, you were when you left! It was an exciting and inspiring event, and we were more than happy to be a part of it.
I implore you to do yourself a favor and volunteer, if you don’t have a St. Vincent de Paul facility nearby - find a soup kitchen or a homeless shelter. You’ll definitely make a difference in someone else’s life, and I’d be willing to bet that it will change your own life as well.
